Updation and purification of electoral rolls is very important to conduct elections in an open and transparent environment. For this, Election Commission of India conducts a special brief revision program every year. On August 6, 2024, the 2024 Special Short Revision Program was initiated by publishing the draft list on the website of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and at the Electoral Registration Offices. This program was implemented from 6 to 30 August 2024. 33 thousand 23 voters were newly registered in the final voter list under this special brief revision programme. Also names of 5 thousand 33 voters were omitted. Also, as 975 voters have been included in the district due to migration, the total number of voters has increased to 15 lakh 32 thousand 307 with a net increase of 28 thousand 146 voters in the final voter list. Accordingly, there is a net increase of 10 thousand 616 male voters and 17 thousand 530 female voters. Due to the cooperation of Women’s Savings Groups, Anganwadi Sevikas, a significant increase in women’s voter registration can be seen this year. Therefore, the male-female ratio in the electoral roll has increased from 928 to 936. Which is equal to the ratio of the population.
In this revision program, 8 thousand 986 new voters have been added in the age group of 18 to 19 and 15 thousand 14 voters have increased in the age group of 20 to 29. In the draft list, the number of voters in the age group of 18 to 19 was 24 thousand 508 (1.55 percent), it has increased to 33 thousand 494 (2.11 percent) in the final voter list. While the number of voters in the draft list of 20 to 29 age group was 3 lakh 31 thousand 340 (20.90 percent), it has increased to 3,46,354 (21.85 percent) in the final list. There is an increase in the percentage of this age group in the voter registration camps conducted in various social institutions and colleges with a total of 53 voter registration camps.
