“We Are What We Are Because of Reading Books”:
Parbhani- A program was organized at Sharda College in Parbhani under the Maharashtra government’s “Reading Pledge Maharashtra and School Contact Campaign” to promote reading culture. The event started with a book procession, where the Constitution was carried in the procession. Police Superintendent Ravindrasinh Pardeshi and District Collector Raghunath Gavde carried the procession on their shoulders. Following this, floral tributes were paid to the portrait of the late Hemrajji Jain, and the book exhibition was inaugurated.
The program was chaired by District Collector and President of the Model English Education Society, Mr. Raghunath Gavde, while Police Superintendent Mr. Ravindrasinh Pardeshi was the chief guest. The event also featured Dr. Baban Pawar (Principal), Dr. Shyamsunder Waghmare (Vice-Principal), Dr. Sanjay Joshi (Principal), Nitin Jaiswal (Headmaster), and program coordinators Prof. Dr. Prashant Mene and Prof. Dr. Sachin Khadke.
Speaking at the event, Police Superintendent Ravindrasinh Pardeshi said, “Reading develops one’s personality. The reading culture was instilled in us by our teachers, and it has stayed with us. Today’s generation should focus more on reading than spending too much time on mobiles. Everything we are today is because of the power of reading.”
District Collector Raghunath Gavde also shared his thoughts, emphasizing that many great personalities across the world were shaped by reading. He said, “The current generation of leaders is empowered by reading, and the adage ‘Read and you will thrive’ is indeed true. Teachers should foster a love for reading among students.”
The event was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Nawanath Singapur, with the introduction of guests by Dr. Shyamsunder Waghmare, the opening speech by Dr. Baban Pawar, and the vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Prashant Mene.
The event was attended by a large number of students, teachers, and administrative staff from Sharda School, Model English School, and Sharda College. The program’s success was attributed to the efforts of IQAC Coordinator Dr. Santosh Nakade, Prof. Dr. Sunil Ballal, Dr. Bhagwan Patil, Dr. Kazimoddin, Dr. Hanumant Shewale, Dr. Dnyanoba Mundhe, Suresh Jaipurkar, Prakash Kale, Rajaram Mutratkar, Tanuja Rasawe, Sunanda Rajguru, Rajkumar Nagulla, and Javed Sheikh.
