Parbhani representative –The Department of National Service Scheme (NSS) at Sant Tukaram Arts and Science College, Parbhani, organized a week-long special camp from January 15 to January 21, 2025, at Murumba village, Taluka-District-Parbhani, under the theme “For My India, Towards Digital Literacy.” The inaugural ceremony began with the worship of the images of Saint Tukaram Maharaj and Saint Gadge Maharaj.
The event was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Jyoti Solunke, with renowned storyteller Rajendra Gahal as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Dr. Sachchidanand Khadke, Vijaykumar Jhade, Headmaster Kadam, NSS Program Officer Dr. M.M. Kadam, and Dr. Gautam Waghmare. The introductory speech was delivered by Dr. M.M. Kadam, and the camp outline was presented by Dr. Gautam Waghmare.
During his address, storyteller Rajendra Gahal emphasized, “Youth should move away from the virtual world and turn towards reading. The thoughts of great personalities must be embraced. Saints dedicated their lives to social change and awakening. Their thoughts should be adopted.”
He further added, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Rashtrasant Gadge Maharaj, among other great personalities, devoted their lives and everything for the welfare of society and the nation. We must inherit their legacy. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar gave us the Constitution, which we must read. The Constitution teaches us freedom, equality, fraternity, and justice. Education plays a significant role in human development.”
Sharing his personal journey, Gahal said, “I hail from a village where poverty was a constant struggle. My father worked as a bonded laborer, enduring hardships to ensure I received an education. Even today, recalling those times brings tears to my eyes. This is the magic of education; it enriches a person.”
He narrated the story “Palkolcha Patka,” depicting the journey of Mugaji from education to employment, which moved the audience to tears.
Another chief guest, Dr. Sachchidanand Khadke, shed light on the objectives and functioning of the NSS, highlighting the significant contributions of saints like Tukaram Maharaj and Gadge Maharaj towards social transformation.
In her presidential remarks, Principal Dr. Jyoti Solunke said, “Students should contribute to the nation and become digitally literate. Mobile phones should be used for productive purposes, and excessive use should be avoided.”
Prominent attendees included Vijaykumar Jhade and Headmaster Madanrao Kadam from Murumba village. Sarpanch Kantabai Khandare, Deputy Sarpanch Jyoti Vijaykumar Jhade, and Gramsevak S.N. Gaikwad also extended their best wishes.
