DYFI and villagers lay in mud to protest for Kolhewadi road

Even after independence, still deprived of paved road--

Purna– Democratic Youth Federation of India and villagers of Kolhewadi under Kanadkhed Gram Panchayat of Purna tehsil protested by lying in mud for a road on September 10.

India recently celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav but Kolhewadi people are questioning whether they are a part of this country or not. It is unfortunate that even after 76-77 years of independence, there is no paved road here.

For the past few days, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the villagers have been continuously submitting memorandums to various administrative departments and talking directly to them but nothing has come out of it. The present Sarpanch has been procrastinating for the past one month by saying that gravel should be laid in two days.

It was said that DYFI had to take this step of agitation today. Actually, it should be known that this road has been approved under the Matoshree scheme in 2019 and a bill of several lakhs has also been recovered on this road through the Employment Guarantee Scheme. But there is knee-deep mud on the road. Due to this, 3 citizens have died so far, students have to pass through knee-deep mud. It is impossible for old and sick people to travel on this road.

The villagers have to leave their vehicles 2 km away in Kandkhed and go to the village.

So keeping all these things in mind, a protest was held today in Kolhewadi by lying down in the wet mud for the construction of a paved road.

DYFI district secretary Naseer Sheikh, tehsil joint secretary, Ajay Khandare, Niranjan Khandare, city president, Prabuddha Kale, city secretary Subodh Khandare, city vice president Vaibhav Khandare, villagers included Kerba Pawar, Yogesh Pawar, Sudam Pawar, Vaman Pawar, Dnyaneshwar Pawar, Krishna Pawar, Mauli Pawar, Tukaram Pawar, Suresh Kadam and others.

After the agitation, DYFI officials and villagers went to Purna tehsil and panchayat committee to submit a memorandum. They sent a memorandum to the rural development minister through the tehsildar. After which they sent a memorandum to the group development officer. They promised to start the road work in 2-3 days.

In the memorandum sent to the rural development minister, a demand was made to build this road strongly and to conduct a thorough investigation of the corruption that has taken place so far. If the demands are not met, DYFI and the villagers warned to return to the agitation again after 15 days.
