Correspondence Parbhani
A special lecture on the Indian Evidence Act was organized jointly by Shri Shivaji Law College, Parbhani, run by Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, and the Parbhani District Bar Association, on Sunday, 3rd August 2025. The chief guest for the event was Hon’ble Justice Mr. Sanjay Deshmukh from the Aurangabad Bench of Bombay High Court.
Before the lecture, Justice Deshmukh visited the college’s spacious library and appreciated its collection of books, computerized services, and overall facilities. The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp and worship of the deity’s image.

In his welcome address, Dr. M.L. Dharmapurikar highlighted the remarkable contribution of Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal and Shri Shivaji Law College in the field of education. He assured that the college will continue to organize such diverse academic programs in the future.
During the lecture, Justice Deshmukh explained various sections of the Indian Evidence Act in simple and understandable language, covering topics such as relevance and irrelevance of facts, expert opinions, and the importance of character of the accused. He emphasized that justice is superior to truth, in the context of legal proceedings.
He also stressed the importance of physical fitness for students, particularly for female students, advocating for self-defense training, building physical and mental strength, and practicing yoga, pranayama, and meditation regularly. On this occasion, girls who consistently carried self-defense tools were felicitated.
Justice Deshmukh also engaged the audience by asking questions during the lecture and encouraging students who answered correctly with intellectual gifts, making the session interactive and inclusive. He also addressed students’ doubts and provided valuable guidance on admissibility of evidence.
The event witnessed the presence of over 20 sitting judges from Parbhani District Court and many senior advocates. Members of the College Development Committee including Mr. Chandrashekhar Nakhate, Mr. Santosh Bobade, and Mr. Santosh Ingle were also present.
President of MSP Mandal Mr. Prakash Solanke, Secretary Mr. Satish Chavan, along with the central executive committee and CDC members, extended their best wishes and expressed satisfaction over the successful organization of the event.
The program was anchored by Prof. Dr. Harsha Suryawanshi, and vote of thanks was delivered by Adv. Pratap Zinzhan. Faculty, non-teaching staff, and students of the college worked tirelessly to make the program a success.
